Between 94 and 96 percent of all paved roads in the
United States are surfaced with asphalt. Asphalt
pavement material is usually composed of 5 percent
asphalt cement and 95 percent aggregates (stone, sand,
and gravel). Asphalt must be heated so that it can be
mixed with the aggregates at the asphalt mixing plant,
like we do at our asphalt plant in Eagle Pass, Texas.
